REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have a relevant Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) or its equivalent, as recognised by SAQA; five years of experience in the education sector at the middle or senior managerial level; extensive experience in the field of institution and employee performance management; and a thorough understanding of the strategies for teacher support and development, including the ability to integrate ICT and other innovative strategies.
An additional benefit will be the ability to do research, impact assessment, monitoring, evaluation, knowledge of the education sector. Strong computer abilities, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; the capacity to operate under pressure; a current driver’s license.

DUTIES: The chosen applicant will be in charge of organising, overseeing, and assisting provinces’ teacher development initiatives in accordance with DBE priorities, including carrying out effect assessments; creating frameworks for the creation of programs; creating plans to enhance and support the performance of schools and educators; promoting the creation of content and the curation of digital resources for teaching and learning; encouraging the active use of ICT platforms for career advancement.
Keeping an eye on and assessing programs for teacher development; exercising strategic leadership and managing funds in accordance with PFMA; giving employees strategic direction and creating yearly plans; encouraging the use of the online Teacher Development Platform and other cutting-edge methods to increase teachers’ capacity.
Overseeing the Directorate’s finances in accordance with the Public Finance Management Act. Identifying the main obstacles to both the timely and efficient planning and execution of important sector priorities and mandates. Facilitating the exchange of best practices and creating quarterly analytical reports for HEDCOM and CEM to direct sector improvement practices.
